A Healthy Dog Is a Happy Dog

Oh, you just have to love dogs. They’re oh so sweet, so fun and they really do add a lot to our lives. And perhaps one of the most interesting things about canines is that they’re so ready to be happy and bring the love. If you ensure that they’re happy, then they’ll return the happiness tenfold. They’ll bring love into the house. Now, there are many ways that you can push your pet in the right direction when it comes to happiness, including giving them attention and going on long walks in the outdoors. An underrated way is to make sure that they’re as healthy as can be. A healthy dog is a happy dog! Below, we take a look at a few ways you can ensure your dog is fit and healthy.

Be Aware of the Issues

It’s always a good idea to have a thorough understanding of the breed of your dog, and especially if it’s a cross-breed. There are some genetic conditions that certain dog types suffer from. If you know what they are, then you’ll know how to actively manage your pet to keep them at bay, and you’ll also know what to look out for, too. If you see that they’re suffering from symptoms of an illness, then make a change to their lifestyle.

Eating Well

The foundations of a healthy dog will be the food they eat; indeed, this is the foundation of a healthy human, too. While your pet will beg you for a bite of whatever it is that you happen to be eating, it’s best to keep any unhealthy foods away from your dog’s mouth. Just as with humans, overweight dogs are much more likely to get health conditions later in life. It’s also recommended that you take a look at what you’re feeding your pet; not all dog foods are created equal. Be sure to choose a product like Eden dog food, which will provide your pet with a well-balanced, nutritious meal. You’ll also want to keep any unhealthy foods well locked away and out of reach of your dog — if they can get to it, they’ll eat.

Dental Health

You wouldn’t neglect your teeth and expect everything to be fine. And the same can be said for your dog. They intake even more germs than you do, so it’s really important that you’re helping them to take care of their oral hygiene. If you don’t, they will be at increased risk of developing things such as diabetes, heart disease, and general pain. There are oral chews that can help to keep their oral hygiene in check, though do go to the vet if there are any concerns.

Big Trips

Finally, make sure that you’re doing more than just the bare minimum when it comes to walkies, A couple of walks a day is just the starting point. Look at going on longer walks where they can really use up all their energy and get themselves fit and healthy.
